2014 was a year of transition for CCMC. With the implementation of the Affordable Care Act and Arkansas’ Private Option (now known as Arkansas Works) insurance, many of our patients now have access to medical insurance and medical care. There is a misconception that with this change that there is no longer a need for CCMC-type safety-net, charitable clinics in Arkansas. Subsequently,we have seen huge reductions in donations from our community, yet we are still providing medical care as well as other services. In 2014, CCMC had 2,377 medical and pharmacy visits with an approximate value of $1.8 million. With the support of our community, our goal is to continue provide the medical care as long as there is a need.
In addition to the medical, dental, vision and pharmacy care that CCMC provides to the uninsured and under-insured in our community, we have expanded our services to include a focus on social services. This focus provides a connection to care for those that find themselves in need. Our overall objective is to provide a “Bridge to Hope” for the under-resourced, helping them access resources to overcome poverty’s challenges while building self-sufficiency.
CCMC is still an active medical clinic with a limited pharmacy, in addition to our new, programmatic focus on poverty. We are supported by individuals, churches, civic organizations, private foundations and annual fundraisers (currently consisting of the “Chocolate Festival” and the “Golf Classic”). We appreciate your support as we carry out our mission here at CCMC to provide medical care and social services to those in our community who could not otherwise afford it. CCMC strives to improve physical, spiritual and social well-being for our clients while encouraging responsible lifestyles. On behalf of our patients and staff, we thank you for your donation.
